I love Mr. Rogers

I was browsing Youtube (i.e. not writing my paper) and I found this old clip of Mr. Rogers. I used to love watching his show when I was little, and I remember my 8th grade Spanish class being really sad when we found out he passed away.

This is one of my favorite songs of his. It's called "It's You I Like" by Fred Rogers.

It's funny how this song is meant for children, but the concept can still mean a lot in adulthood.

It's you I like,
It's not the things you wear,
It's not the way you do your hair--
But it's you I like
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you--
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys--
They're just beside you.

But it's you I like--
Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like,
It's you yourself,
It's you, it's you I like.

I wish kids today could grow up with Mr. Rogers. He talks to children the way some adults today need to be talked to.

P.S. May I just say that I cried when I saw this.
