Quarantine Life: Day 14, Amazon Fresh

Quarantine Life: Day 14, Amazon Fresh

Grant and I ordered our first Amazon Fresh delivery the other night. Here’s how it went. We knew it would be difficult securing a delivery time slot because of the high demand so we stayed up late Friday and placed our order at midnight when new delivery time slots opened up. We picked a delivery time between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. today. I think we had an hour between securing our delivery window in the app and checking out with our order, which was plenty of time.

We ordered some fresh meat and produce, as well as some canned goods and frozen veggies. We also stocked up on some organic coconut water, which is my current drink of choice. It’s sublime. Certain items we wanted were out of stock, like bananas and frozen fruit, but we were able to get most of what we needed.

Christmas came early in the form of delivered groceries.

I got an email at 11:15 this morning letting me know that my order was being prepared and would be sent out for delivery on time. Our order arrived at our doorstep at precisely 1:20 p.m., on the earlier end of our time slot. We did a quick inventory of our order and most of what we ordered was correct. I did order a three-pound bag of onions and only got a single onion, but one mistake isn’t too bad. I know the workers fulfilling orders and delivering them are busy and under a lot of strain.

Overall, the experience was simple and convenient. If you’re sheltered in place and are looking for a way to get groceries delivered, see if Amazon Fresh can fulfill your order. We also encourage supporting local businesses. Do some research and see if your local restaurants and shops can provide some of the goods that you need. We’ll keep an eye out for local providers in our community and will blog about them in future posts.

This daily blog post series is our way of sharing our experience with you, our readers. We’ll talk about our daily routines, adjustments to working from home, recipes based on limited ingredients and any other topic that comes to mind. It’s our way of connecting with the “outside” world, while also giving us the opportunity to look within and reflect on what we’re experiencing and how we’re feeling. Thanks for your interest in sharing this journey with us. Stay tuned and be well.
