Quarantine Life: Day 45, My Great-Grandparents 100 Years Ago

Quarantine Life: Day 45, My Great-Grandparents 100 Years Ago

I mentioned in my Day 30 post that I’ve been working on a family tree project during the quarantine. I’m updating our family tree with any information, stories and photos I can gather. I told my mom about my project and she gave me a book that her aunt wrote about our family history. It was a fascinating read about my great-aunt’s childhood in 1920s Manila and how she became pioneer in women’s medicine in the 1940s.

Here’s a photo from that book depicting my mom’s paternal grandparents in 1920, a hundred years ago. They went on to have 10 kids, including my grandpa. I wonder what it would be like to travel back in time 100 years and meet them at this early point in their marriage. I wonder what we might have had in common.

This daily blog post series is our way of sharing our experience with you, our readers. We’ll talk about our daily routines, adjustments to working from home, recipes based on limited ingredients and any other topic that comes to mind. It’s our way of connecting with the “outside” world, while also giving us the opportunity to look within and reflect on what we’re experiencing and how we’re feeling. Thanks for your interest in sharing this journey with us. Stay tuned and be well.
