Quarantine Life: Day 19, Laundry
Being sheltered in place means there are a lot of things we can’t do for the time being. To look on the bright side, there are a lot of things we can do now that we didn’t do or we put off doing when we had a choice to do pretty much anything else. Case in point: laundry.
I used to do laundry once a week, but it would always take up the better part of my Sunday evening. Ironing was my nemesis. Work shirts, slacks, and a never-ending stream of khakis. Every wrinkle- and pucker-prone article of clothing. I ironed them all. Sometimes it would take an hour or longer, depending on how many loads of laundry I’d put off. But that was then, our pre-quarantine life.
Now, for the first time, I am absolutely killing it in the laundry game. I am the queen of laundry. I am a laundry ninja. I can wash and dry a few loads while I work during the week. Then after work, folding and putting everything away takes 10 minutes tops. Bonus: Working from home means most of our clothes that need ironing are staying put in our closet for the next month or longer. That might not seem like much, but these days I’ll take any silver lining I can find.
Side note: While laundry is my domain, Grant’s in charge of washing dishes. I think I got the better end of the bargain. My job is much easier in quarantine, but the number of dishes and cookware we go through each day has skyrocketed. Thanks, Grant.
