Quarantine Life: Day 29, New Work Station

Quarantine Life: Day 29, New Work Station

After a month of working from home, I realized that one of the things I miss most about my office is my ergonomic work station. I had an adjustable standup desk and an office chair with lumbar support. Working from my kitchen table isn’t nearly as ergonomic and it’s definitely taking a toll on my neck and shoulders.

Grant suggested that I start using the desk we keep in our bedroom, which has a lowered keyboard tray, meant to reduce wrist and shoulder strain. It was a great idea, so we dragged out our old desk and gave me a nice window view in our living room.

My new work station.

My new work station.

Grant has his own desk now, the kitchen table we previously shared, which he moved to face out of our dining room window. Although we miss sitting at the same table it’s less distracting to have our own little corners. We also have more room to put our stuff. Plus, it’s fun to take breaks and “visit” each other throughout the day.

Another benefit of the change is that it gives us a feeling of experiencing something “new” and having a change of view, even in quarantine.

For those of you working from home, have you made any adjustments to your work stations?

This daily blog post series is our way of sharing our experience with you, our readers. We’ll talk about our daily routines, adjustments to working from home, recipes based on limited ingredients and any other topic that comes to mind. It’s our way of connecting with the “outside” world, while also giving us the opportunity to look within and reflect on what we’re experiencing and how we’re feeling. Thanks for your interest in sharing this journey with us. Stay tuned and be well.
