I felt like Sanford and Son

***Ok. I started writing this post and saved it last week, but I forgot to post it. Oops. Here it is!***

For those of you who might not be familiar with Sanford and Son, it was an American comedy tv show in the 70s about a father and son who ran a junkyard. That's exactly how I felt this afternoon-- like I was in a junkyard.

Tomorrow is the last day for students to move out of our residence hall and back to their own homes for the summer. As resident advisers for our hall, my friends and I have to stay later than everyone else in order to close up the building. Part of this means having to sort out the donation room. With everyone moving out and not wanting to take their junk home, they dumped everything into our donation rooms. All donated items are supposed to go to St. Anthony's Foundation. Even with a list that clearly indicated what was ok and what was not ok to donate, people still felt justified in donating used underwear and dirty shoes.

Weirdest things we found:
  • 6-foot-long leather whip
  • doctor's scrubs
  • flower costume for a two-month old baby
I seriously wouldn't be surprised if they were donated by the same person. Here are some pictures of my friends sorting through all the junk. We weren't exactly happy campers.
